Stella and its successors Stella Lux , Stella Vie and Stella Era are a series of solar racing family cars , built for the World Solar Challenge in Australia , sofar winning its Cruiser Class all four times it was held — in , , and in The group have set up a non-profit foundation to promote their concepts for practical solar vehicles for adoption on a broader scale. Contrary to previous solar vehicle race classes that focus primarily on speed, and are contested by highly impractical single-seat racers, a new competition for more "practical" solar electrical vehicles was added to the edition of the World Solar Challenge WSC : the Cruiser Class. Vehicles competing carry two or more occupants, each facing forwards, and are judged not only on the time taken to complete the course, but also on their external energy use, payload carried, and an overall practicality assessment. For this competition a student team from TU Eindhoven created Stella , a solar powered "family car" with four seats and luggage space, which won the WSC's Cruiser Class in In , some of the students responsible for the vehicles have launched their own startup company to make a commercially viable version of the car, called Lightyear One. Vehicles in the WSC's Cruiser class are allowed a small battery-pack which can be plugged in to the power mains for additional charging. Although Stella was mostly relying on its 1.

A sleek, shiny vehicle powered by solar energy speeds across a red and rocky desert landscape. Using a connected traffic application called the Solar Navigator, this vehicle can find the most efficient path through the forbidding terrain. Though it may sound like the opening to science fiction film, the vehicle in question is no spaceship, but a family car or at least a look at the family car of the future.

The Stella is based on the same architecture as the Subaru R2. It can be considered as a direct replacement of the Subaru Pleo , although the Pleo soldiered on for another four years. It was Subaru's re-entry into the market segment dominated by the Suzuki Wagon R and the Daihatsu Move , hoping to recapture market share after the R2's lower-than-expected sales. The Stella's dimensions are more parking structure-friendly where vehicle stacking is utilized over the Pleo. The most recent generation Stella is a rebadged Daihatsu Move. The name Stella is Italian for "star", a reference to the Subaru logo. Due to the investment of Toyota, [1] the Stella was replaced by a rebadged Daihatsu a Toyota subsidiary.
I booked Montenegro car hire via EconomyCarRentals. Yes, Stella Car exists! I think it is a small company and perhaps is quite new. They didn't have an office in Budva as they will drop the car to you. Contact them a couple of days before the pick-up date to arrange delivery. The car was in excellent condition. From my experience there was no problem. Hope this helps. Two months ago I rented a car from them and unfortunately I do not have many compliments to give them.
